Privacy Statement Kunst van Kaar

Last updated: 20 September 2026

Kunst van Kaar is the personal art website of Karin B. Ouderwelt. On this website, I share my paintings, my development as an artist, and information about my work.

I consider it important to handle personal data carefully and in a privacy-friendly way. This privacy statement explains which personal data I may process, why I do so, and how I handle that data.

1. Who is responsible for processing your personal data?

Kunst van Kaar is a personal art website operated by Karin B. Ouderwelt.

Contact details
Karin B. Ouderwelt / Kunst van Kaar
Email: info@kunstvankaar.nl
Website: https://kunstvankaar.nl/

If you have any questions about this privacy statement or about the processing of your personal data, you can contact me using the email address above.

2. What personal data may be processed?

Depending on how you use my website, I may process the following personal data:

  • name;
  • email address;
  • the content of a message you send through the contact form;
  • information you provide when expressing an interest in a painting;
  • information required to subscribe to the Atelierpost;
  • your consent to receive the Atelierpost;
  • technical data that is necessary for the functioning and security of the website.

I do not intentionally collect more personal data than is necessary for the relevant purpose.

3. Contact form

The website uses WPZOOM Forms for the contact form.

When you contact me through the contact form, the information you provide is processed. This may include your name, email address and the content of your message.

Messages are sent to info@kunstvankaar.nl.

Submitting the contact form does not automatically subscribe you to the Atelierpost. A separate registration and consent are required for the Atelierpost.

Depending on the circumstances, the legal basis for processing a contact message is to respond to your request or to take steps at your request.

4. Atelierpost / newsletter

The website offers the possibility to subscribe to the Atelierpost.

I use MailerLite to manage and send this newsletter.

When you subscribe, your name and email address may be processed. You provide separate consent to receive the Atelierpost.

A double opt-in process is used for subscriptions. You will first receive a confirmation message before you are actually subscribed.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe option included in every Atelierpost.

MailerLite processes personal data on my behalf for the purpose of providing the newsletter service. Depending on the settings and features used, MailerLite may process information about, for example, newsletter delivery and interaction with a newsletter.

I use newsletter data only for the purpose for which you provided it and for managing and improving the Atelierpost.

5. Hosting and email

The website and email services are hosted and/or provided through TransIP.

TransIP may therefore process personal data that is necessary to provide, secure and maintain the website and email services.

6. WordPress and plugins

Kunst van Kaar uses WordPress and various plugins to make the website function properly.

These include plugins for forms, portfolio functionality, search engine optimisation, email delivery and technical security.

These plugins may process technically necessary data when this is required for the relevant functionality to operate.

I aim to keep the number of plugins and external services as limited as possible and do not use plugins solely intended to track visitors for commercial or advertising purposes.

7. Instagram

Kunst van Kaar may provide a regular link to my Instagram account.

At present, Instagram is not automatically loaded as an external feed or social media plugin on the website.

This means that simply visiting my website does not automatically load an Instagram plugin.

If I add another Instagram integration in the future that processes personal data or places cookies, I will update this privacy information before that functionality is used.

8. Google Analytics

Kunst van Kaar does not use Google Analytics.

I have deliberately chosen not to use Google Analytics or a similar tracking service, so that visitors can browse the website without having to give consent to tracking.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

Kunst van Kaar aims to operate the website in a privacy-friendly way.

I do not use tracking cookies to monitor visitors, create visitor profiles or display personalised advertisements.

The website may use functional and technically necessary cookies that are required for the website to function properly and securely.

Consent is not required for such necessary cookies.

Therefore, as long as the website uses only such necessary technologies, I do not use a general cookie banner that asks visitors for consent before they can view the website.

If I add a service in the future that requires consent for cookies or other tracking technologies, that service will only be used after valid consent has been requested.

10. What are personal data used for?

Personal data are used only insofar as necessary for purposes such as:

  • responding to questions and messages;
  • maintaining contact;
  • sending the Atelierpost when consent has been given;
  • managing newsletter subscriptions;
  • operating and securing the website;
  • handling interest in or a future purchase of an artwork;
  • complying with legal obligations.

I do not sell personal data to third parties.

11. Who may personal data be shared with?

Personal data may be processed by service providers that are necessary for the operation of the website and my communications, including:

  • TransIP, for hosting and/or email;
  • MailerLite, for managing and sending the Atelierpost;
  • WordPress and relevant technical plugin providers, insofar as this is necessary for the functioning of the website.

These parties are given access to data only insofar as this is necessary for the relevant service.

If I add new external services in the future that process personal data, I will assess the privacy implications and update this privacy statement where necessary.

12. How long are personal data retained?

I do not retain personal data for longer than is necessary for the purpose for which they were collected, unless a statutory retention period applies.

As a guideline:

  • contact messages are retained for as long as necessary to handle and, where appropriate, follow up on the matter;
  • Atelierpost subscription data are retained for as long as you remain subscribed;
  • after unsubscribing, the data are deleted or, where necessary to respect and demonstrate a previous consent or unsubscribe request, retained in a limited form;
  • data required for a future purchase or administration are retained for as long as necessary and, where applicable, for the duration of a statutory retention obligation.

13. Security

I take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, unauthorised access and other unauthorised use.

These measures include, among other things, secure connections and security measures provided by my hosting and email provider.

Although I take appropriate measures, no internet connection or website can guarantee complete security.

14. Your privacy rights

Under the GDPR, you have various rights regarding your personal data.

Under certain circumstances, you may:

  • request access to your personal data;
  • request correction of personal data;
  • request deletion of personal data;
  • object to certain processing activities;
  • request restriction of processing;
  • withdraw your consent where processing is based on consent;
  • request the transfer of your data where the right to data portability applies.

You can exercise these rights by contacting:

info@kunstvankaar.nl

I may ask you to provide sufficient information to verify that the request is genuinely made by you.

15. Complaints

If you have a complaint about how I handle personal data, you can first contact me at info@kunstvankaar.nl.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

16. External websites

My website may contain links to other websites, for example Instagram.

I am not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party websites. Those websites have their own privacy policies.

17. Future changes

Kunst van Kaar may add new features in the future, such as an online shop, online payment options or other forms of contact and services.

If a new feature results in a different processing of personal data, this privacy statement will be updated before the new processing is introduced.

The most recent version of this privacy statement will always be available on this website.
